Political Implications of Racial and Ethnic Diversity
My substantive research agenda considers the political importance of racial and ethnic diversity in America. Racial and Ethnic Diversity, as conceptualized in my research, accounts for the multiplicity, or the mixing, of racial
and ethnic groups. The racial and ethnic groups of particular concern include whites, blacks, Hispanics, Asians, and American
Indians. In general, my research interests focus on examining the behavioral, electoral, and institutional implications of diversity. The ultimate goal of this agenda is to establish how
variation in racial and ethnic diversity manifests itself in various aspects of American politics. This particular research agenda offers a needed extension to the existing research by
broadening the focus to include multiple racial and ethnic groups. Further, this agenda attempts to bridge the gap between the minority politics literature and the mainstream political science
literature by incorporating the theoretical and methodological ideas from both areas of research.
